Third Prize/Tampines Town Council Mural Design Competition(2024)

In February 2024, I participated in Tampines Town Council Mural Design Competition. My artwork was selected as the third prize in the primary and secondary school(7yrs-16yrs old) category out of more than 200 drawings.

This picture shows a colorful cube held by two hands. Each side has one of the 4Rs — Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Refuse — written on it. Around the cube are drawings that show how we can follow the 4Rs in our daily lives. For example, we can reduce by using less plastic, reuse by bringing our own bags, recycle paper and cans, and refuse things we don’t need like straws. This picture shows the theme “Making Tampines Zero Waste: Zero in on Waste with the 4Rs” by showing how we can help the Earth.

Third Prize-The Most Creative Award/Viart 2024
ViaRT 2024 Upcycled Art Competition

I’m really excited to have won the Third Prize – The Most Creative Award in the ViaRT 2024 Upcycled Art Competition. This year’s theme was “1.5 Degrees Celsius: Create against Climate Change,” encouraging us to use upcycled materials to make art that speaks about climate change and sustainability.
For my piece, I took an ordinary Mid-Autumn Festival mooncake box—something most people just throw away—and gave it a new life as part of my artwork. I wanted to show how we can turn everyday waste into something meaningful, while also celebrating our culture in a more eco-friendly way.
The artwork was on display from March 12 to 31, 2025 at the Sustainable Singapore Gallery, Marina Barrage.

This is a model I made to show how animals could be rescued during a hurricane. I was inspired by Hurricane Milton in Florida. It was one of the hardest artworks I’ve done because the small parts kept falling off, which was really frustrating. But I kept going, and I’m proud of it!

Outstanding Award/Mid-Autumn Lantern Painting
Singapore Hokkien Lam Ann Festival

This is a Mid-Autumn Festival lantern I decorated with drawings of a dragon, a pagoda with Chinese writing, and a happy family. It was a unique and challenging experience because drawing on a round surface made it hard to get the shapes and lines right. Even though it was tricky, I really enjoyed it because it was something new and creative to try for the festival.

In 2023, I received the Outstanding Award in the Lantern Painting Competition held during the Singapore Hokkien Lam Ann Festival. It was my first time painting on a lantern, and the experience deepened my understanding of the Mid-Autumn Festival, a meaningful tradition in Chinese culture. This project also gave me the chance to express my creativity on a new medium while celebrating cultural heritage.
